Written in the spirit of the Conservative movement, this volume, by the late Rabbi Isaac Cohen, began as a series of pamphlets on Jewish law and practice. The demand for the pamphlets was great, and the rabbi reviewed and edited them extensively to form this book, A Guide to Jewish Religious Practice


Each of the topics in this book are referenced to classic Jewish texts, such as the Tanach, Talmud, codes, and responsa. Every facet of Jewish life can be found discussed within, including matters of birth and death, kashrut, the significance and practical aspects of Jewish holidays, divorce, adoption and more.


This edition also deals with up to date issue such as abortion, euthanasia, artificial insemination, women's rights and so on. It has also been reviewed by Rabbi Joel Roth, an extensive lecturer in Halacha. He has updated this volume to come into line with more recent decisions taken by the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards of the Rabbinical Assembly. 


About the Author


The late Rabbi Isaac Klein was the spiritual leader of Congregation Shaarey Zedek, Buffalo, New York, president of the Rabbinical Assembly, a member of the Jewish Theological Seminary faculty, and the author of Responsa and Halakhic Studies as well as scholarly articles

Rabbi Joel Roth is the Chairman of the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards of the Rabbinical Assembly. He is also Professor of Talmud and Rabbinics at the Jewish Theological Seminary.
